Collision Risk Index Calculation Based on an Improved Ship Domain Model

The traditional ship collision risk index model based on the distance at closest point of approach (DCPA) and time to (TCPA) is insufficient for estimating planning avoidance operations. This paper constructs an elliptical, dynamic domain that changes with speed maneuverability parameters overcome subjective human factors. Based constructed model, concept proximity factor introduced improve DCPA TCPA, a calculation function considers safety navigation constructed. numerical improved confirms enhanced has higher rate identification between ships. more compatible requirements decision-making can provide theoretical support technical basis research decision-making.
